Our Big Kid Lukas!!!

My husband and I were just talking the other day how it feels like Lukas is turning into this big kid before our eyes.  He likes to voice what he is thinking, asks about things, and sometimes he correctly answers his own question!  Since kindergarten has started he has become more outgoing.

One really big kid step he took was no pull ups at night time!  He has probably been ready for awhile, because he has been staying dry at night for a while now.  On and off since he was almost 4 years old.  We didn't push him though.  I kept asking him if he wanted to try underware at bedtime.  He would tell me "no Mom!"  Then a couple weeks ago he decided "yeah, I want to wear underware to bed."  Surprising when we went on vacation one night he decided to wear a pull up and he was a little wet in them.  However, I put him back in underwear after that and so far all is well.  I think it's a mental thing honestly.  If he is wearing underwear he gets up and goes in the middle of the night.  We will see how things continue, but I think Lukas has moved onto that next big step!  He is our little big guy now!  If you ask him though he is fast, big, and very very strong!  So he is no "little" kid in his head!

Lucy Stays with us for an all day visit!

My sweet little niece Lucy came over for an all day visit a couple weeks ago!  She's crawling now, and she made noises, says "mumm mumm" over and over!

Lucy was mostly obsessed with our dogs.  She would crawl as fast as her little body could get her there, just to be abandoned by the dogs by the time she would reach them!  She would sigh and then turn around and put her little head back down to crawl as fast as she could to where ever they went.  It was very cute!

The kids all played nicely together too!  Megan was a bit of a bully and she kept taking toys away from Lucy, but we kept telling her to give them back.  If she wasn't playing with them first then she needs to wait till Lucy was done playing with it to go get it.

After lunch and nap time we decided to pack the kids in the car and go to the nature center.  This is what the sardines in our car backseat looked like...

When we got to the nature center Megan and Lukas got to walk the trails while Lucy got pushed in Megan's stroller.  Lucy was an excellent nature explorer!  She just sat and chewed on her sock the whole time!

Doesn't she look so thrilled...lol?

After the nature center we went home and got supper started.  She took her second nap shortly afterward!  So we played outside with the kids to give Lucy some quiet time to nap.

Then toward the end of the night I got her all dolled up in her pajamas and let her play.  She started getting a little fussy.  Which really surprised us because she had been pretty quiet all day long!  I got her a bottle ready and she chugged that down in no time!

We loved having you visit Lucy!!  Love you little sweetie!!!

Memorial Weekend Fun- Walks, Weddings, Picnics, and Parks!

We took a walk with the kiddos at our favorite place, our local Nature Center!  Went to a pretty backyard wedding, and then had a picnic with our kids at the park!  Wonderful weekend full of hot, then not so hot, and cold weather!
Our Friday...

Our Saturday evening..

(What a beautiful backyard wedding!)

Then our picnic...from Labor day.  We went to a local park and froze...OK that might be a little over dramatic, but it was so cold and windy!  We did have fun though!  Lukas liked to fly out the "robot slide" as he called it.

Good bye summer we will miss you!  It's like 80 some degrees today though so...it very much still feels like summer here!  Maybe next year we can go do some camping, since this summer got so busy we never got any in!

Lukas starts Kindergarten-Coming home from school! (Part 2)

While Lukas was at his first day of school, Megan and I met up with my best friend Jessie to have some lunch!  Megan was so silly all day.  She talked alot about Lukas and you could tell she really missed him.

After lunch we went home and took naps.  I had to wake her up early so I could go get Lukas from the bus stop.  She was all excited!  I was wearing a hat and sunglasses so she copied me.  These pictures are before we left to go meet him and while we were waiting for him to get dropped off!

When Lukas did get off the bus he looked so tired, but he was smiling and very talkative!

Gave his little sister a huge hug!

He told me "Mom school was fun!" and "I had cheese pizza for lunch!"  Then he asked us what we ate for lunch and he wanted to know all about our day.  I was more concerned to find out more about his day though!  He got this little gift from his teacher for his first day of school.

The gift bag says...
"We are glad you are here.  Together we will have a wonderful year.  Welcome to our class!"
A Sticker to show that we all stick together.
A cotton ball reminds you that our classroom is full of kind words and warm comfortable things.
A candy kiss to remind you that someone cares.
A tissue is to help wipe the tears if we are sad or anxious.
Fruit Snacks are for the fruits of a terrific class- Patience, Love, Kindness, Respect, and Peace.
A crayon to help make every day a little brighter.
Smarties to remind you that we will learn alot this year.
Bubbles to remind you that we will have a fun year together!

After we picked him up we went out for Dairy Queen and Lukas picked a slushie and Megan had ice cream!  It was a great day all in all!

Lukas Starts Kindergarten-His 1st day of school! Part 1 (Going to School)

Lukas started Kindergarten yesterday!  He did a great job and was such a good boy!  I couldn't have been more proud!  The day started out a little later than his normal days will, but we got some breakfast and pictures done before we had to go to the bus stop.

The wait for the bus was long since it was the first day of school I am sure many were taking pictures, because all the other students were kindergartners too.

Hug good-bye to Megan.

Then on the bus he went...off to school!

After he got on the bus, Megan and I hopped in the car so I could go meet him at the school and help him find his critter line.  They didn't let parents in on the first day because it would have been too packed.  So that was as far as we got to go.  The critter line.

Then the Critter Line to wait for his teacher to take him to his locker and classroom.

At this point Megan had a blow out poopy diaper and we had to leave as he walked into the school, but I told him to have a great day and that I love him very much!

Good bye Summer 2013

I feel like this summer was weird, fast, and of course not long enough.

It was weird because the first half of summer was chilly with temps in the upper 60s.  Then middle of summer to second to last week in July hot.  Last week of July to middle of August was chilly.  Temps in lower 70s.  Then for the last part it's been hot with heat indexes.  What a weird summer!

Summer feels like it goes fast anyway, but it felt like we had plans or something going on every single weekend.  That is no fault but our own...I ran in 5 5K runs, we took Lukas up North, visited the zoo, reptile center, and then hit the fair.  Lots of walks and playing and of course the nature center.

I wish summer was another month longer.  I can't believe Lukas goes off to kindergarten next week, and we start a whole new year of volleyball soon.  This year I would like to get Lukas into Karate, and Megan into dance.  Man...time goes by too fast.

It's funny when you are younger it feels like time just crawls so slowly.  I can see that in Lukas too.  When we tell him something is gonna happen in a couple days, or a week or so he gets so mad and he tells us "that feels like forever."  As you grow up time moves a little faster, but then you have kids and time feels like it's just whizzing by.  It's cool watching your children grow, learn, and turn into such neat and unique little people, but it defiantly makes you miss their littleness that keeps slipping away daily.  Here is a little slide show I put together to remember our Summer 2013!
