Opps...Summer is Gone!

Well...I what can I say, summer seems to have faded away and it got so busy between work, home, and activities I didn't blog.  We had some fun things that we did though.  Let me fill you in.

We went to the fair...and had some fun.  Lukas rode a pony...

Megan watched and rode in the stroller...

Lukas rode on alot of rides.

Ok so that was the fair...there are more pictures, but we'll stick to those for now.  Then every weekend we hit our local nature center for some good old walking...

Mommy and Megan at the nature center while Daddy and Lukas try to catch frogs.

Daddy and Lukas visiting the "owl" that is really a hawk.

My sweeties taking a walk.

Last but not least...we made a cake for Daddy for his birthday.  They loved it.

Megan got to taste the batter and help for the first time.  Needless to say she enjoyed it!

Farewell Summer...see you next year!

Apples!

Look at this little hunny about...eating an apple like she's a big girl!  Honestly whatever we are eating she wants to eat.  The way we are eating it too.  I cut chunks off this apple for Lukas for lunch and she started pointing at the left over core saying "nanee" and smiling.  She wanted the apple.  So I decided as long as I am sitting never to her what is the harm for her biting on the core and getting some yummy apple with all it's great vitamins.

If she likes apples now...just wait for fall!  That's when apples the "good" apples get cheaper and then we get treated to those wonderful Honey Crisp apples!

Relay for Life

Last weekend my Mom and I took part in a local Relay for Life event.  The event is truly a moving experience.  Cancer just plain sucks and it never ceases to amaze me how many are touched by this.  Either they have had cancer, had someone they know had cancer, lost someone to cancer, or gave care to someone who helped someone with cancer.  It touches everyone differently.  I have lost both Grandparents and my Step Dad to cancer.  We mad Luminaries and walked that evening in their honor.

While we walked I bought a iced coffee, but I had already had one before the Relay for Life too.  So I had 2 coffees.  If you know me, then you know I don't drink coffee.  I will have a hot tea in the morning and when it's hot out I will have iced tea.  Coffee sent me flying high and I would sing along the path to the music the event was playing.  Here is my Mom and I...I am all coffeed up in this picture.

To all those who have been touched by cancer we walked and honored you.  Hopefully a cure will be found one day!

Lukas's Track

Daddy made Lukas a super cool, outside, dirt track for his cars!  My husband said he enjoyed it.  He said "it's been awhile since I got down and played in the dirt."  Lukas enjoyed it and he was really loving the tunnel.

He is posing here.  Before I took the pic he said "cool Mom!"  Then he posed.  It was nice for them to get to spend this time together.  Plus we all need to get down in the dirt and play in it sometime...right?

Megan does it by herself!

My littlest monkey has grown leaps and bounds this summer.  It's hard to believe she was just learning how to walk only a couple months ago.  Now look she's a full on climber and plays on the slide in the backyard!  Craziness!  Slow down little girl...slow down!

More Teeth!

Over the last 2 weeks Megan has cut, swelled up, and then re cut the same tooth.  It's getting old how she gets all ornery because of the pain, cuts the tooth, swells, up and then you can't see the tooth anymore.  It's frustrating!  She finally cut the sucker though again, and then I noticed she also cut another tooth too!  It's been a trying summer with her teething.  I don't think Lukas completed teething until he was 3 years old.  If Megan stays on the same course we have 2 years of her teething left to go.  Ugh.
Here's hoping the rest of the teeth come a little easier!

Summer's Going too Fast!

The summer through my eyes feels like it's flashing before my eyes!  So much has happened in such a sort time.  Lukas turned 4 before we kicked off summer and Megan turned 1 in July!  We took our first family camping trip with all 4 of us, went to parks, kickball, swam, rode bikes, and many many walks.  It's all so bitter sweet.  I know one day I am going to look back and miss this crazy hot and busy summer.

Lukas is riding his bike really well.  In fact we went on our first longer bike ride and he rode the whole way except when we crossed a street.  He has learned now he can stay on his bike if we come to a hill and how to slow himself down so he doesn't crash.  We signed him up for preschool and he will start in September.  He has learned how to pour himself drinks from the refrigerator, get his own snacks, and he catches onto anything we are doing.  He is sweet, rambucous, goofy, emotional, and has a quick temper.  He's growing up before our eyes.

Megan is changing daily.  She has also come a long way this summer.  She walks pretty well, and she has started moving fast almost to a run if you give her the room.  She has started trying to eat with spoons and forks.  Before my eyes she has started communicating and talking to us.  She now says "all done", "mama", "dada", "daisy", "this", and "no".  When she really wants something her little arms and hands out with her fingers closing and openings as if to say "gimme!"  She can now climb on the outside equipment in our backyard all by herself.  (Good thing it's not tall!)  She seems to learn something daily at this stage.  She also wants whatever her brother wants...food or toys, or whatever.  You name it, she wants it too!

It seems summer is leaving me feeling like it's going to quick!  We'll have to savor this last month and really try to enjoy it!
