Happy Halloween!

This year looks to be nice to drag the kids around for Halloween tonight.  Even my husband wants to take the kids out for Halloween!  Lukas hopefully will be more "into it" this year.  Last year was a dud.  We don't plan on doing alot of trick or treating though.  We are making the normal stops at the Grandma's houses and Great Grandma.  It's going to be more work dragging Megan around in her carseat this year too.  Lukas will be SuperMan and Megan is going to be a Ladybug.  Hopefully I can get some good pictures!
Happy Halloween!

Farmer John's Pumpkin Patch

This last weekend we went to a local fall attraction in our area.  Farmer John's Pumpkin Patch.  I have been past this place many times, but have never stopped.  My husband had never been there either.  So it was a first for all of us.  They have a little barn with fall goodies for sale, silos with slides for kids, little sitting areas, and then wagons you can pull and pick out pumpkins.  We had already bought our pumpkins from our local grocery store, but next year we will buy from Farmer John for sure!  It's a fun family activity, and they had some really nice pumpkins.

We Love You Brett

This picture was taken April 2009.  Lukas was 11 months old and it was Easter time.  This is/was Grandpa Brett.  It's been 2 years today since he has passed away.  While we all are finding our way in this world without Brett the loss of him not being here just never goes away.  My Mom will shake her fist at the sky when she is frustrated sometimes "you're supposed to be here!" she will shout!  It's true.  He was taken away from us way too early.  He didn't get to see his son Eddie join the National Guard, Eddie soon graduate high school, be with my Mom for this good stuff, see his second grandchild Megan be born, see just how much snow he had wished for the year he passed away (it was alot!), see his great nephew Aldous be born, watch Lukas grow into the great little guy he is, and be there for when Prancer (their family dog) passed away this last summer.  He may not have been here for all of these things and he has missed more things than I can even list, but I feel he is here in... and watches over us.  He is still with us in our hearts and you can feel it.  It's funny how the smallest things remind me of him.  The warmth of the sun (he loved warmth, grew up in California), a neatly kept yard, a purple heart, a yummy new recipe (Mexican or grilling), Harley Davidson everything, Jose Cuervo, and many many more things.  He was such a neat and unique person!

We love you Brett and we will always miss you!  Always and Forever!♥

Lukas's Gets a Set of Wheels!

Our little guy is now a bike rider!  Well he has a bike...that he sits on, and my husband pushes him around on.  He is getting better at learning to pedal.  When he concentrates on pedaling he doesn't pay attention to where he is going.  You and I both know...we need to pay attention to where we are going when riding a bike, or you run into stuff!  He is learning this very important fact!  Megan and I watched and I took pictures...here is a slide show!

Cereal Time

Last night Megan had baby cereal for the very first time!  She was so good the whole time too!  I would spoon in a bite and she would smile.  Then I would give her a quick drink from her bottle to encourage her to swallow it.  I was surprised that she even opened her mouth for the spoon...like a little natural!  She was so excited during the feeding that she was pumping her feed back and forth.

Well as I fed her I was remembering Lukas's first feeding and the two feedings were way different.  Lukas was not really that into me spooning food into his mouth.  He was horribly impatient and wanted his food and the satisfaction of his food now!  Megan was so calm, smiley, and patient during the feeding it was unbelievable!  I remember his first feeding there was cereal was on his bib and he would bit the spoon (picture below).  The above picture is what Megan looked like after her first feeding.  Just a little around her mouth, barely any was on her bib.  I can't believe how fast time goes.  Here we are now feeding our baby girl the same stuff, from the same spoon, and same bowl.  It was a little surreal.  Last night was my last first feeding for my kids.  I mean Megan will have alot more firsts here of course.  As she gets the hang of this we will introduce fruits and veggies.  (Wonder what she will like the most?  Lukas was a veggie baby, he ate some fruits...but loved his veggies!)  With how much I was a fruit fiend during my pregnancy I am curious to see if she will really like the fruit the way she made me crave it?  It will be interesting.
I still can't get over how much older he looks than she does.  He is actually a couple weeks younger than Megan is at this point.

Here is Megan during her feeding.  Not so messy and just chilling taking a bite.
I think you can tell we switched to the newer cost CFL bulbs.  The lighting is horrible for pictures, but they are supposed to help with energy efficiency and last longer.  Plus my newer camera doesn't have the settings to adjust light like the one I lost that I took so many of Lukas's pictures with.

No Monkey's today...just some Quotes and Stuff

I have some quotes around my office on the walls and stuff.  With being in "customer service" (all my computer users are my "customers") it helps me to be positive and keep a happy outlook even when I might not be happy or just plain grumpy.  "People may not remember exactly what you did, or what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel."  I printed this one out and posted it my first year working with the company I am with.  I have looked at it multiple times and I always try to be happy, bubbly, and friendly while helping people.  I actually like what I do and that helps too, but it doesn't mean I don't get frustrated sometimes with people.  One of my computer users the other day came up to me out of the blue and told me "I think you are such a good person."  That made my day!  She said "you never make me feel bad for asking questions or needing your help."  Well it's my job to help so I just felt like there is no point in making someone feel bad for needing my help.

Another one I printed out was "God is going to shift things around for you today and let things work in your favor."  Boy oh boy, do I love this quote!  It's a wonderful thought that this is, could, or might happen.  Why not have things work in your favor.  You gotta win or come ahead sometime right?
This next one is not a quote.  I wrote this post-it September 10th 2007 the day I found out I was pregnant with Lukas.  I have kept it because it shows me just how truly blessed I am.  To say I was 'happy' when I found out I was pregnant with Lukas is a understatement.  My husband and I tried for 2 years to conceive Lukas and when we gave up it happened!  Funny how life works like that huh?  Then for the next months to come while he grew in my belly and started becoming this sweet big baby that was going to bless us...I prayed every night to God.  I told him "thank you" everyday and I also prayed to "keep our baby healthy and safe".  With my pregnancy with Megan I was just as thankful, but not as afraid.  I don't know if Lukas helped me feel calm about the pregnancy, but I wasn't as afraid the second time around.  Both of my "Monkeys" are a blessing and I thankful for them everyday!  Dear God...Thank you!

Forest City Trip

Photobucket
A couple weekends ago we went to Forest City.  It was to celebrate some birthdays and a anniversary.  The link below is to a album of the world though Lukas's eyes while we were there.  He loves to take pictures and here you can see how good he is at it lol!  OK...good isn't exactly the word, but he did a great job!  The world through Lukas's eyes...

The world through Lukas's Eyes

I especially love the pictures of his face and feet!  So cute!
