My sweet little monkey has allergies. Over the last month in a half we have been treating reoccurring pink eye, and a on and off again cold. Then last Saturday she had a rash on her cheeks, arms, and legs.
It all started back in March. Megan started having red circles under her eyes. It kept getting worse, but I just assumed she was tired and rubbing her eyes. The picture above was taken April 13th and she had really red eyes and it almost looked like she got socked in the face. Then April 24th I noticed some crusty gunk in her eye. She also had a runny nose. I took her into urgent care and they said she had pink eye. I gave her the drops and it did clear up the gunky goo stuff, but her eyes still continued to look like the above picture. The drops were prescribed to be taken for 7 days. She was off the drops for 6 days and boom. She had "pink eye" again. I had just thrown her drops away, because that it what the box told me to do. I had to borrow some drops and refill a prescription. May 6th we started the drops all over again. Again the gunky stuff went away, but never the red eyes or red circles under her eyes. She went off the drops May 13th again. I had cleaned my house top to bottom, scrubbed every toy, and washed all bedding. I didn't want her getting pink eye again!
Fast forward to last Saturday May 19th we were at a friend's BBQ and I noticed Megan and that gunky goo in her eye AGAIN! I was like WHAT IN THE WORLD? So she had "pink eye" for the 3rd time? Not cool! That night when we got home I also noticed her nose was really running, she had really bumpy rosy cheeks, and a rash on her arms and legs. Right away I wondered if it was heat rash, because it had got close to 90 degrees that day. I took off her clothes to put her pajamas on and no rash where her clothes had been. Not even in the diaper area. My friend's mom said "I bet she has allergies." I looked at her and was like...what? really? How can that be?
So Monday I called the doctor. I would be coming in that afternoon for Lukas's 4 year old checkup and asked if I could bring Megan to be seen. By this point, her rash was pretty much gone, and her eyes looked pretty good. She had been inside in air conditioning all day long. She looked pretty good. I was hoping they would believe me.
Doctor said this year has been really bad for allergies. People that have never had allergies before are all of a sudden having allergic reactions to pollen. She prescribed Zyrtec for Megan. I am supposed to let her know how she is doing in 7 days and if it's helping. I guess time will tell.
I am praying this helps, because look how happy being outside makes her! My swinging Monkey!
***Oh and by the way...Lukas's 4 year old checkup went well. 86% for height, and 89% weight. His vision screening passed, and so did his ears.
