Nums

A couple weeks back Lukas and I attended a confirmation open house for a family member.  Lukas was running and playing.  He was tumbling all over their lawn, when all of a sudden he came and told me he hurt his nums.  I looked at him confused, and asked him where he hurt himself.  He pointed to his lower belly and then crouched on the ground.  I picked him up and put him on my lap.  He continued to cry and tell me his nums hurt and he wanted to go home.

Well on the way home he continued to cry and told me his pee was red.  I freaked out!  When I got home I carried him inside and my husband and I looked him over and let him lay down.  I called the on call nurse at our local hospital and they told me to bring him in.

By this point it had been about an hour and he was still holding his tummy and he couldn't walk.  As we sat in our urgent care and waited for a doctor I kept wondering what might be hurt.  I asked him if he had to poop (because of all the problems he used to have) he said yes, but he said he went earlier.  So I was still a little stumped.

Finally after an hour of waiting in the urgent care I decided I was just going to take him home.  They weren't looking at him and he had fallen asleep on my lap while waiting for the doctor.  Once I decided to leave all of a sudden I had a doctor there and she was talking about doing a scan and a blood test.  By this time Lukas woke up and he wanted to go home.  He could walk too.  I was surprised.  I told the doctor he hadn't walked any in the last 2 hours, because his stomach hurt.  They looked him over and I said I was just going to take him home.  He was looking better, and if he got bad I would bring him back.

He was back to his old self running, jumping,  and playing.  On the way home he said his pee was purple too.  In the back of my head I was like 'wish you would have said that earlier instead of peed red', but he was OK and back to normal.

After talking to my husband he said when you hurt your groin it does hurt in your stomach and if you hit it hard enough you can't or don't want to walk.  So I think Lukas had his first "groin trauma" as the doctor called it.  How in the world he came up with the word "nums' is beyond me.  However, now I know what nums are or if he tells me he hurt them and what it means.  Since hurting them that first time he has since hurt his "nums" twice now.

I am sure he will love this story as he gets older...or probably turn red the first time I share it with a girlfriend when he is older!  lol
