Happy Weekends!

Saturday and Sundays are happy days with my children.  They get to sleep in, and I get to make them breakfast!  Megan is always in such a happy go lucky mood in the mornings!  She is alot like me there.  She gets fussy at night when she is tired...again, like me.

Lukas on the other hand...

Wakes up grumpy, and doesn't want to be talked to, like his father.  He doesn't want to eat right away and he gets ornery if you start trying to ask him too early.  Every single morning is like this.  I just get him ready and barely speak to him, because he freaks out.  During the weekend I just let him come to me when he is ready to eat or get dressed.

After both kids have woke up and are going they are both happy and silly!  They play together well and you even get some down time with Lukas when Megan naps.  It's wonderful!

Lukas Songs...

My little man is growing up.  I wish I could say that I love it, but I miss the days when he was a little tot.  He was so cute, sweet, and cuddly.  That stage sure doesn't last very long!  I love the little man he is becoming though!  He's still sweet and sometimes cuddly, when he isn't arguing with me!  He's becoming so familiar with the world and everything in it.  For example, he pays attention to where we are driving and asks questions about why we take different ways if there is road construction.  He has learned how to solve simple puzzles and asks more and more question with his growing curiosity.

He's also been singing lately.  He sings the regular classics like Itsy Bitsy Spider, Old MacDonald, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and he also makes up songs too.  That little brain is always going!
Here are some examples:

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star:
Twinkle twinkle little Star, how I wonder how you are.  Up above the sky so high, with a marriage in the sky.  Twinkle twinkle little star how I wonder how you are.
(Lol, I think it's funny how he correlates the diamond part of the song with marriage.)

Itsy Bitsy Spider:
Itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout, down came the rain and the spider was all out, out came the sun and washed out the rain, and the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again.

Queit, Wonderful, Peaceful..and Then Crying!

When your little ones sleep it's so peaceful and sweet.  You think "man this is what it's all about."  You love them and your heart could just burst!  Ahhh, the love!

Well then this happens...

They follow you around while they cry at the top of their lungs.  Screaming "Mama!"  It gets very very old and you wonder "what on the earth is wrong with my child!"  Could be a list of things...hungry, tired, teething, or geez whatever.  I think Megan is doing it now because she has gotten used to me picking her up.  I am struggling with not picking up Megan when she cries and I know I am not the only parent to encounter this, but it's so so hard!  I want her to be content and happy, but it's simply not possible for me to carry her all over the place all the time.  Maybe after these teeth cut she will be happier?  Here's hoping.

Copycats

The second child learns from the first child at an astounding rate.  Megan has copied Lukas and learned so much!  She is doing things at this age that Lukas didn't do until he was almost 2 years old!  It's crazy!  Here are some examples:

-Megan can drink through a straw at 12 months old, Lukas didn't do this until he was almost 2 years old!
-Megan can climb on things (up onto things) at 12 months old, Lukas did this early but not as early.  I think he really started climbing around 15 months, only because he was too busy running around.
-Megan refused baby food at 9months old, and Lukas loved his baby food.  He ate it all the way until he was 14 months old!  She wanted to eat what we were eating!
-Megan has started picking up toys at 12 months old, only because she is copying Lukas and they do this at daycare too.  Lukas is still on and off with picking up toys.  It's funny though sometimes when I get Megan out a toy out of the toy box she puts it back.  Too funny!

I am crossing my fingers she potty trains faster...but that's another year away or more.  Lukas started being interested in the potty around 2 years old and then didn't want anything to do with it for almost a year.  Around 3 years old he pretty much potty trained himself.  We just put him in pull ups for about a month, and viola he asked for underwear.  He's still to this day only had 1 accident.

That being said...Lukas has been copying Megan sometimes too.  He saw her sitting on Molly which we don't let him do, but when Megan was doing it I took a picture.  He gently sat on Molly and I took another one (above).  I will have to start telling Megan she can't sit on Molly now too.  It's not fair to let one child do something and not the other.

I am glad they have each other, and Megan is lucky to have Lukas as her example to learn from!

Sock Monster

One afternoon after I picked the kiddos up from daycare Lukas decided to play with Megan's socks.  (Megan will not keep her socks on for anything.)  So he put the socks on his hands and said in a gruffy silly voice "Cookie Monster" to Megan.  She laughed and then Lukas had the sock monster get her!  I was driving and I shouldn't have been taking a picture, but I snapped this quick one without looking at them.  I think I did a pretty good job!

After we got home into the drive way I asked Lukas to do it again so I could get a better picture.  He refused and this is what I got instead...

He got camera shy I guess.  LOL, he is so affectionate with Megan.  Not all the time, but he doesn't fight with her...YET.  I wish I would have been parked so I could have got a video of it!  Dang it!

Corn!

It's that time of the year...where we get to eat sweet corn!  Both my husband and I love sweet corn, and Lukas is finally coming around to eating it too.  He got really excited when I brought home sweet corn and he even got out the sweet corn holders and put them on our plates before we were even eating.  Now that is excitement!

Megan even got to try it!  She really enjoyed it too!

Big Brother and Walks

Lukas is such a good big brother.  He is caring, kind, and he has fun with his sister.  Lately though he has been more pushy now that she is in his face wanted his stuff he is playing with.  Which she will learn there is personal space in time and Lukas will  learn patience and how he shouldn't treat his sister.  For example, when we go on walks if he isn't riding his bike he wants to push Megan and he does a good job at it too.  Sometimes I worry he may go too fast, but we just remind him to slow down.

We decided to take another walk out at our local Nature Center one evening when the heat was gone.  It was a gorgeous evening.

Lukas taking a peak at his "owl friend" which is actually a injured hawk getting better.

Megan watches her big brother.

Looking for fishes...but we saw none.

Next year Megan will be running around with her brother out here...but for now she's still my little sweetie suck in the stroller!

Happy Birthday Last Saturday Megan!

For Megan's 1st birthday we had a butterfly birthday party!  She had a really great day for her birthday party, and we all enjoyed the party!  Here are some pictures of my new 1 year old big girl!

Megan walked around and did some hosting at the party!

Big kids played in the pool!

 Chowed some cake!

Opened presents...or should I say Lukas opened them for her.

She got some nice gifts including this dolly.

She had a really great birthday and here's to another fun year!
