Megan and Car Rides

Car rides with Megan aren't the funnest thing to do...like...ever.  They are needed of course to get from one place to another.  When she was just a baby I thought she would stop freaking out in the car once she got to face forward.  Well, no that didn't help.  She still freaks out.

Now that she is getting vocal she doesn't just cry in the car she whines and says "Momma" over and over or "Nooooo!" at Lukas if he is bugging her.  Lukas likes to antagonize Megan, but in all fairness Megan is easy to annoy.

So...this all being said.  I wonder when she will stop freaking out in the car?  If she doesn't ever stop will she just get whinny?  Hopefully for all our sakes she starts calming down.  Seriously I feel like one of those vans with a movie in it might be needed!  AHHHHH!

5 Hour Cookies

I made these cookies last Sunday for a cookie exchange I am particpating in.  They weren't hard, but I made 4 batches and they darn near took 5 hours!  The most frustrating part was needing more counter space and Megan trying to get to them every chance she got.

Megan is a smart little cookie, and she knows if you push a chair up to whatever you want then climb on it...VOILA, whatever is up high is yours.  3 times she almost got to these cookies, and I think I would have cried if she did get to them!  Ugh...those crazy one year olds and all their plotting and sceeming.

Lukas just kept begging to eat them.  Between Lukas and myself we wasted like half a dozen on ourselves.  I am not super proud of how many cookies I ate, but they were right there!  What's a girl to do?

Recipe for these cookies are here REINDEER COOKIES!

Reading with Daddy

Lukas is loving reading even more than he already did.  Learning letters and putting them together is a neat and fun puzzle for him.  He likes to listen to the story memorize it and then pick out letters and ask about words.  We are getting a little reader ready.  I took this poorly lit picture when Lukas and Daddy were reading before bedtime one night.  I love looking and listening to them reading a book together and enjoying this time together.

Megan has started loving reading as well.  She will go collect books and bring them to you.  She will give you the books and then promptly turn around and expect you to grab her and put her on your lap to read stories.  She has become good at following some of the books directions.  She has started pointing to body parts too.  It will ask "where is your nose?'  She will giggle and point her her nose...sometimes in her nose, but I move her finger to the correct area.

I love my little readers!  I hope they grow into happy readers.  I love to read and it's a great way to relax and have a little time to yourself.  If you haven't read a book in awhile do it for yourself.  You will see how much you missed it.

Molars = No Sleep

Teething is the pits...I mean it, I hate teething.  Of course it's a very essential process for your child becoming a "advanced eater", but seriously my little Meggars is dealing with some pretty bad pain.  Pain that not even ibuprofen can help!

Last week she had some pretty sketchy nights of sleep only to find out last Saturday morning as she laughed when I tickled her I saw a new molar!  Those 1 year old molars are some pretty big buggers.  She has the top two already, and now one lower one.  Well we are on number 4 right now.  Monday night she did alot of talking in the middle of the night and she did wake up once, but she stayed in her crib and fell back asleep on her own.  Tuesday night we weren't so lucky.  I was up with her for 3 hours in the middle of the night!  She just wanted to be held and cuddled.  Poor little pumpkin.  I pray it pops through any day now and she can get some "time off" from teething.  What a perfect thing for the holidays lol!

Finally- Fun Bath Time!

The last week or so Megan has actually started enjoying her baths!  She wouldn't sit down in the bath and would cry the whole time I made her take one the last year and a half.  Since she is now 16 months old I am glad she is coming around to liking them.  Finally!  Lukas always loved his baths and once in you couldn't get him out.  Even when he was little little...he always loved them.  Well now Megan is finally enjoying them!  Yay!

She sits, mumbles and talks to the bath toys while she is taking a bath.  She doesn't like getting washed up and her hair washed, but Lukas is still like that and he is 4 years old.  I don't think that will ever change.

I am just happy I can finally give her a bath and play with her!  Ahhh relief!

Fire Station- Lukas's First Field Trip

Lukas's Preschool had a field trip to our local fire station.  The funny thing was they had 3 calls that day between the morning class, and the afternoon class.  The teacher said in all the 25 years they have been doing this field trip this has never happened.  So I guess we are special.  I took some time off to go with Lukas on his field trip and he had alot of fun.

They showed the kids all the gear.  Put everything on and gave the kids a high five!  They wanted to make sure the kids knew that if there ever was a fire and they saw a person coming in this uniform that it is a nice guy and it means he is trying to help you.

They got to walk through a fire truck and see where the fire fighters sit to go to a fire.  All the kids were excited to get into the truck.

We got to go and tour the big fire truck outside.  With the big ladder and sirens and all.  Kids thought that was pretty cool.

Right after I took the picture above the fire fighters got another call and they were off.  Just like that.

I learned a couple things that day.  First I learned that our little town's fire station is busier than I thought they were and second I learned that Lukas doesn't like being caught off guard.  When they got called and they left he was pissed.  He threw a huge fit at me and was very mad his field trip was called short.

A Little Catch Up

Ok we are gonna play some catch up.  I only got one post in last week, and I haven't had the time to post anything else.  Here it goes...

Trick or Treating was a success.  Lukas had some fun going up to houses, and we visited my Mom's, Chris's Mom's, and my brother's place.  All in all a busy, but fun evening.  Megan's costume came the day after Halloween so we borrowed a friend of mine's daughters play clothes.

The Pink Fairy and Spiderman!

Lukas also had his Halloween Parade at School. Here are some pictures of that.  They are all so cute!

Then fast forward to another day or so and someone got visited by the "teething monster" and now she is in full blown teething mode again.  Complete with runny nose, crabby attitude, and losing sleep.  It's no fun...hopefully these molars don't take weeks to cut like the upper two did.  Anyway she has caught a cold and she also ran me down so I caught it.  Dang!
