Mother Nature is Bipolar...I am Fairly Positive!

I am gonna complain again about our weather!  Our state...lovely Minnesota is very volatile when it comes to a weather forecast.  So far this May started with 13 inches of snow on May 1st and 2nd.  Then it got nice and cold we had highs into the mid 30s.  One week later all that snow melted and then the ground became over saturated.  Which meant water in the basement and lake in the backyard.  Got that all cleaned up and we had one really nice week.  It was gorgeous except for the 2 nights we had frost warnings, but not even 2 days later we hit a record on the 14th with 91 degrees...or as my iPhone said...

The end of that week brought 3 inches of rain that down poured Friday while I was at work.  Which meant water in our basement again.  More vacuuming of the basement with the wet vac!  It just stopped coming in and was starting to dry in areas and boom...Sunday hits with another 3 inches of rain!  So more water in our basement and backyard.  My garden area and the kid's play jungle gym are under water in our backyard.  Now this week looks like 3 more days and chances of rain (which of course we don't need) some areas are flooding in our town!  Then after the chances of rain move out it's goes back to lower 60s for highs only to come up on Memorial weekend with more chances of rain!  Last year we were in a drought and man all I can say is not so far this year!!!

When the weather gets me down I feel like making cookies!!!  Ahhh!

Look Fower Mommy!

Now that it's finally getting nice out we can get out and hang out with the beautiful green grass, and the weeds...oh I mean flowers.  Megan was picking dandelions and those purple flower weeds too.  She is so sweet.  She looks at me and says "Mom!  look a fower!"  Then she picks it and gives it to me!

She started singing while holding the flowers and I was like 'oh I gotta get this on video' and by the time I got my phone switched from camera to video recorder she stopped!  That's how it goes though!

Two Peas In a Pod

Where Lukas goes Megan goes...what Lukas does Megan does...what Lukas says Megan says and the list goes on and on.  I love their bond and how they adore each other.  I know this won't last forever, but Lukas is a great big brother to his sister and Megan just follows Lukas around like a little puppy.  They have their seperate times too, when Lukas will sit and play his DS or watch TV Megan plays with her babies or her Dora kitchen.  Playing, running, and having fun are what these two love to do!

Brother and sister,
together as friends,
ready to face
whatever life sends.
Joy and laughter
or tears and strife,
holding hands tightly
                            as we dance through life.

Birthday Party Success!

Lukas's Mario birthday was a success!  I thought that I ordered plates, cups, and decorations, but guess who forgot to submit the order online to get these things...this girl!  Dang it!  I was a little disappointed, but the show must go on.  So we bought some red and blue plates, and some blue cups and my cake I made him turned out really cute!  He loved it all!

He got some really great gifts too!!!  He was so excited to open them all and Megan was right by his side the whole time!

This is the last birthday that gets put in his baby book.  It kind of makes me sad, but he's growing up and getting big so fast!  After I enter his kindergarten stuff this fall his baby book will be done.  No more baby...(*cries and pounds a fist*) No fair!!!  Those 5 years went entirely way too fast!!!  He is turning into a really intelligent, fun, happy, little person!

Tomorrow is his "real birthday" and I am going in a few hours late so I can make him some of his favorite cinnamon rolls and treat him special for breakfast!  Then tomorrow night we are off to my Mom's for pizza and cupcakes!  5 never looked so good!!!  We love you buddy!!!

Run or Dye!

My husband got to stay with the kiddos last Saturday as I got up early and went to the cities to run with my friend.  This is my second 5K that I have registered and ran in, but the one last summer was so hot with heat index of 110 that I didn't run the whole 5K which left me a little disappointed.  So when my friend Carrie asked me to run with her in the Run or Dye I was excited!  I knew for sure it wasn't going to be excessively hot and I had a chance at having a good run.

This was what we looked like before we took off.  All clean and ready to run.  It was only 34 degrees during our run that morning...so definately not hot by any means!  My toes were froze while we waited for each heat being started.  When our heat finally got to the starting line I was hoping up and down to warm up my feet to get ready to run.  The run was actually very peaceful and Carrie was ahead of me the whole time, but I zone out when I run so I kept slipping into my own world and not paying attention of trying to stick with her.  I did catch up to her a couple times before we finished the race though.  I don't know my time, because it wasn't a serious race.  It was a race to run and get dirty as they sling color your way!

All in all we had alot of fun!  It was our first 5K that we ran and finished and that is something!

Lukas and Megan...just know that whatever you set your minds to...the sky is the limit and you can do it!  Positive thinking, and a little bit of practice makes everything alot easier!

May 2nd Will Go Down In History

This is what we woke up to last Thursday.  Well something like this...this was after my husband and I went out and shoveled for an hour while the kids were sleeping.  It was the first time where I didn't even try giving it a go to get into work.  The weekend before was beautiful!  We had 70 degree weather, grill outs, a fire, and the beautiful wonderful nature center!  Tuesday after we were done with supper Chris, the kids and I decided to hit up the park.  The kids got to swing and go down the slide.  While we were at the park I pointed to the sky...and I said "look at those dark clouds."  My husband said "we need to get going home now."  So we walked back home and the second we set foot in our drive way we started seeing sprinkles.  We got inside and before we knew it we had thunder and lighting and hail!

Well that night it rained all night on and off.  Same thing on Wednesday  May 1st.  Then I looked at the forecast and this is what I saw...

The rain was going to change to snow and they were now forecasting 9 inches of snow for our area!  I was really hoping they were wrong.  I think everyone else was too.  It started snowing and sleeting May 1st that evening, but nothing was staying because the ground was getting warm.  As I went to bed I was hoping that it would keep melting.  Needless to say it didn't.  Our area got a total of 10 inches of snow May 2nd and then another 1-2 inches of snow May 3rd.

The snow is already gone...thank goodness!  I wanted to put this on the blog for when my children get older.  They will see the historic snow we had in May and they will know winter of 2012-2013 has got to be one of the most stubborn for not leaving!  So if you are reading this Lukas and Megan and you are older now...this is what we did that day.  We cuddled, made cookies, colored, and watched Dora, Mario, and built stuff with Legos.  It was a pretty good day of being with my babes and just getting to take a day off and be with you guys.  The snow was a downer and none of us was happy about it, but that is the positive that I am taking away from that day.  That I got a extra day with my sweet monkeys.  Love you two...very very much!

Out to Eat

Last weekend we my Mom and I took my kiddos out to eat.  This last winter they went to a Christmas light show and got free coupons for their meals at our local Perkins.  Megan had Mac n Cheese with fruit and she munched everything up!  She just kept eating and eating...she got to sit next to Grandma and she was actually really good too!  Shocker!

Lukas had his usual Perky Bear Pancakes that are topped with chocolate chips and he at them all up and half of my Mom's french fries!  He loves going out to eat...we don't do it often, because his sister usually isn't very fun to take out to eat.  She was good though...so maybe that will mean more trips out to eat!  He was a very good boy.  He ate all his food, listened for the most part, and I got to teach him tic tac toe!

Fa..boops peeas.

The other day we were walking in from getting home from a long Wednesday at work and daycare.  The kids were both a little crabby and hungry.  Lukas asked me "Mom can I have a bowl of fruit loops before supper?"  "Sure, only if you still eat supper," I said as I pointed my finger at him.  He gave me his word he would still eat supper.  Megan stepped up to me and said "Mama, I fa boops too?"  I laughed and said "you want fruit loops too?"  She smiled and said "zess".  I said what do both of you say?  Lukas looked at me and said "please????" while he smiled at me all goofy!  Megan saw what he was doing and copied him down to a T.  She gave me a goofy grin and said "peeeas???" while waving her little arms back and forth.  How can I say no them and their sweetness?
