Hanging off the bed.

Megan's getting the hang of sleeping in her bed.  The whole process has went alot better than I was originally thinking it would.  The other day went I went to wake her up she had her head hanging off the bed and she was still sleeping.  She's so funny!

Fun with Daddy!

Mommy was away with friends this last weekend for our annual girls weekend and I had a blast!  The kids got to hang with Daddy all weekend!  Friday I think they just chilled out after work and daycare.  Saturday he took the kiddos to the nature center, then grilled out, and had a fire, and Sunday they got to swim!  Here are some pictures he sent me while I was away!

All in all I had a great trip and caught up with friends I haven't seen in a very long time!  I am glad that my family got to enjoy each other and spend time together!  Thanks to my husband for being such a fun and hands on father!  :)  We love you!

Funny Lukas

The other day while driving to daycare we had this discussion...

Lukas:  "Mom look!"  (Pointing to the College's sprinkler system) "they have a sprinkler in the morning!" 
Me:  "Yep, they want to water their lawn so it doesn't turn brown or die."
Lukas:  "Because if it died it would turn black and lots of bugs would live there huh?"
Me:  "No, it wouldn't mold and harbor bugs, but it would get crunchy and look bad."
Lukas:  "Oh I see."  (Sitting very quietly thinking.)  "Mom, nobody can even run in the sprinkler in the morning." 
Me:  "True, everyone is busy getting ready to go somewhere or sleeping huh?"
Megan:  "Momma, dook pinkler!"
Lukas:  (Looking over and seeing Hormel has a sprinkler system too) "Wow Mom, they have one too..."
Me:  "Yep they just want to keep their grass looking healthy."
Lukas:  "Well don't they know that nobody can run through a sprinkler in the morning.  They should do it in the afternoon, so little kids go in it."
Me:  (Knowing clearly now that sprinklers in the morning are annoying him.)  "We will set up a sprinkler sometime this week after work so you can have fun in it."
Lukas:  "Okay Mom!"  (Beaming and super excited!)  "I love you so much!"


Ha...if that's all I gotta do to get some love...well count me in!

Painting Megan's "NEW" Bed

About a month ago I found this toddler bed at a garage sale for 5 bucks.  It did look a little beat up and I thought to myself...I could make this look cute with some spray paint and cute bedding for Megan!  So I snatched it up and my Mom and I got it loaded into her car.  Came home and put it in the basement for now.  Well almost 2 week ago Megan turned two and I decided it was time to get the bed ready, however we had no free time until middle of July.  So when it rained this last Saturday I jumped at the unexpected time at home!

We picked up the Dora bedding I had ordered and bought the spray paint.  That Saturday afternoon I started painting it.  This was what it looked like after the 1st coat of spray paint.

After another coat and half, and 2 days later...here is the bed all set up and ready to go!  Purple and Dora go together like peanut butter and jelly!

 

So Monday night was her first night sleeping in her big girl bed.  We gave hugs, got her blankie, and read stories.  After I put her to bed I gave her a hug and kiss and told her "I love you pumpkin!"  She giggled and said "buv you!"  That was the last I heard from her all night.  She slept great all night.  Hopefully that continues...I was very worried about switching her to a big girl bed and that she wasn't ready.  Guess I was wrong!

Mamma Does Some Color Running!

 

 

Sunday was a beautiful day to get dirty and colorful!  I should know!  I ran my 2nd annual Color Run from the cities and 3rd ever color 5K, I have another one in August too.  It's been a great summer to do some runs with friends and family!

 

This year our team name was 1 Colour At A Time and our team was my friend Carrie, my brother Curt, and his girlfriend Megan.  We had alot of fun!  Got up to Carrie's around noon.  Changed and chilled a little bit.  Got dressed and put our temporary tattoos on.  Made our way to the fair grounds.  This was Megan and Curt's first 5K and they had a blast!  It was neat being a part of their first 5K!

I had alot more fun this year than last year!  Last year was so hot, and this time I knew what to expect.  What to bring and how to deal with color everywhere.  It was great!  Such a fun and relaxing day...amen! 

 

Lukas and Daddy went and did some fishing, while I was at the color run and Megan got to chill with Grandma.  Everyone had a great day!  No luck fishing though...darn, and my Mom said Megan was in a fantastic mood and so good!  What a great Sunday!

 



Breaking Free...and I freaked out!

Ok...I started video taping Megan because she was cute dragging around the cooler and my keys.  She wanted to go visit Haidyn (a second cousin of hers).  She said "bye Mommma, bye!"  I looked over and she had our cooler and my keys in her hand.  I said "Megan where are you going?"  She smiled and said "bye bye, going to Haidyn's."  I laughed and grabbed my phone to get it in a video.  Well she kept it up and was trying to open the door.  To my surprise...she got it opened!  My heart stopped and I freaked just a little!  We have a baby proof thing on the door and she got it open!  Yikes!

Peety like Dow-wa!

This is one of the gifts Megan got for her birthday.  It's a Dora birthday party dress with a matching doll dressed in the same dress that sings happy birthday!  Megan tried it on and loved it!  She exclaimed "Momma, I peety like Dow-wa!"

Aww...moments.

I had some awww moments this last week.  They mostly have to do with Lukas.  He was so sweet and caring.  He reminded me of his dad to a T!  Here are a couple examples...

Lukas combing his little sister's hair.  (picture above)  Watching this was a little bit funny, and a whole lot of sweet.  He melts my heart sometimes!

Next one up...Lukas drew a picture of himself, Megan, and Lucy (his little baby cousin) all holding hands.  I snapped this pic and can't wait to show him someday how thoughtful and sweet this was.  Plus it's too darn cute...he drew himself looking like Gonzo from the muppets!

 

 



Great 4th!

We had a great 4th of July holiday last week.  We went to a parade, got invited to a grill out, and watched some amazing fireworks!  Another 4th down in the books!

A lady my Mom works with helped the kids get some loot at the parade, which Megan wanted to eat everything they gave her right away.

A Dora Birthday Party!

Last Sunday Meggars turned 2 years old!  We had a Dora fiesta to celebrate!  I made her cake Sunday morning and for the whole rest of the day all I kept hearing from her was "Momma, I have cake?"  I am not kidding even slightly!  She asked for it...all...day...long! 

We had some sloppy joes, fruit, chips, and dip too!  She loved having people come over and she was very excited people brought presents!  However, I think Lukas was even more excited than she was about the presents!  She took her time gently opening each present!  It drove her brother crazy!

Her favorite part of the birthday party though was the cake...I am pretty sure.  She talked about it all day long, and when it finally got to the time to go have cake she took off into the kitchen in a flash!

 



Lukas had to finally help her blow out the candle.  She wasn't sure exactly what she was supposed to do.  Lukas said "here Megan let me show you..."

Once the candle was blown out they were free to have a cupcake and yes...I did give them each a small piece of cake to go with their cupcake. 

All in all she had a great birthday!  Can't believe my baby is 2!  Where does time go?

Happy birthday to my very own little firecracker!  She is full of loves, tears, giggles, and lots of sassyness!  Love you baby girl...forever!

Warrior Dash

My kids now have a warrior for a momma!  I did the St Jude Warrior Dash for our state last weekend!  Let me say...one of the hardest...things...I...have ever...done!  Crazy exhausted fun!  See Megan and Lukas...I am proof that you can do ANYTHING you put your mind to!  Warrior Dash was all about putting your mind to it! 

Lukas's First Track Meet

A local group sponsored a ages 3-13 track meet with our Park and Rec office.  It was just down a couple blocks from us so we walked down and got to check it out.  Next year Megan and participate, but she was too little this year.  Lukas got to run, and then he got to do the jump in sand thing...guess I am not sure what that is called...oh well. 

Anyway here he is starting his run.  He was running with 6 other kids and Daddy sent him off...and Megan and I were down at the other end waiting for him.

His heat actually were all very close.  All those little boys did a great job running!!  Lukas got 4th place.  He was a little down at first, but I told him "hey...4 is Daddy's favorite number!"  Then a big smile spread across his face and he just beamed.  When Daddy came up to us he said "look Daddy I got 4!"  It didn't matter what place he came in at...we have to teach him that trying something and giving it your all is just as good as placing first!

 

 

He did a good job with the jump thing too!  He was proud and gave his all!  We couldn't be more proud of you bud!  We love you!!
