Walker = Nice Idea
I remember when Lukas was little his doctor gave me a unapproved look when I told her that Lukas used a walker. She said "walkers are never a good idea, it could greatly increase the possibility of injury." Which I can understand her point on, but we live in a one level house and if you still watch your child while they are in the walker then I don't believe there should be a problem. Sure kids can get hurt no matter what and Megan has her share of boo boos coming, but that is just her age. She's at that age where she is learning to "toddle" around, because before long she will be a toddler and all hopes of keeping her safe...all the time...won't happen. Kids get into things and get hurt. I hate it and I didn't like it when Lukas would get hurt, but there isn't much you can do it's the "hard knocks of life" and you have to learn.
That being said...the walker is a great idea for us. Especially right now. We can be outside and she can hang out and move around while we are all out there. We don't have to hold her or sit by her the whole time. As long as we keep a watchful eye out just in case she decides to eat something she shouldn't or try to touch something she shouldn't then we can stop her and no injury will happen. Can't say what it will be like in 3 or 4 months. I am sure we won't use the walker much once she is getting around on her own, but for not I must say. This walker has been a life saver!

My Monkeys and Bubbles
Lukas was showing Megan how to blow bubbles on our sunny Sunday afternoon we had this last Sunday. He would say "see baby grill, you pull out the yellow thing and you blow" then he would blow the bubbles and look at Megan "so cool" he would exclaim and then laugh! Megan even tried to copy him. She would make the blow noise with her mouth and she thought it was all fun!
Megan observing how it all goes. I tried to get her to smile for the camera, but when I would tell her "say cheese Megan" and try to get her to smile. This is what she would do...
Silly little girl would do "SOO BIG!" She is so funny!

Heat wave in March
Lately our March has been acting more like May or early June. It's been absolutely gorgeous, and I am not going to complain. We have got to clean up the backyard, get the patio furniture out, and do some grilling out. My husband is the best cook on the grill! I must say we ate like kings Saturday and Sunday. Since I didn't have to cook it and it tasted amazing that is what I call spoiled! Ha!
Lukas was the only family member not embracing the cooler clothes. It gets seriously hot in our backyard in the evenings before the sun goes down. That didn't stop Lukas though. He was pour sweat and if you tried to put a cooler shirt/pants on him he would say "Mommy I'm cold!" Silly kid!
I L-O-V-E love this weather! Keep it coming Mother Nature! We love it!

Standing and Waving!
Megan's favorite thing to do these days is to crawl over to something and get up and stand. She had even trying taking some steps without hanging onto anything. She falls, but she is learning balance and I am proud she is so daring to take that step and give it a try.
Her other favorite thing seems to be waving. You walk into the room and say "Hi" to her and she starts waving. It's so cute. Bye-bye gets her waving too.
She is such a little Hunny. If I ever need a boost or I am down a grin and wave from her will always help! No matter what!
*Notice how Lukas ignored me in both pictures. I tried calling his name and he just said "noooo Momma!" He refused to look at me and ignore me! Stinker!

Playing Together
These days Lukas is busy just trying to keep his cars/trains away from Megan. They are Megan's favorite things to chase after and Lukas likes to tease her with them. So that doesn't help! It's probably one of the reasons why she started crawling early! The bathroom seems to be a thing Megan will bolt for too...but that's another subject.
I took this picture on one of the mornings that Lukas and Megan were playing together. Megan thinks her brother is the best thing ever and usually follows him and his toys where ever they go. Lukas has a long tiring road of having a little tag along...already! I remember my brother Curt wanting to tag along, play with whatever I was playing with, or simply taking what I was playing with. It's what happens when your sibling looks up to you and wants to be around you! So far Lukas loves her attention, but I am thinking that her getting his toys all the time will get old. Or when we ask him to share when she is allowed to play with them won't be fun for him either!
Ahh the joys of having a little brother/sister! Let the good times roll!

Things I don't like, and things I do like
When it comes to sharing meals with my family I try to be daring and try things to show my children that it's a good thing to eat new foods. Well I have learned over the last couple weeks that there are some foods I will never try again...well not try again any time soon. Don't tell Lukas though...I still hold hope he is more like his Dad when it comes to food than me. I was a picky eater when I was younger!
The stuff I don't like:
First I learned I don't care for Quinoa. We had a healthy food challenge at work and my boss made this Quinoa salad it looks something like this...Quinoa Salad, and I found out that I was not a fan of Quinoa. It takes like nothing and I don't like the texture. Here I thought I was really opening up to new foods and now I have learned I still have alot more opening up to do. I wouldn't make this for my family, and I am pretty sure Lukas and my husband would be just fine with me not making it.
Second I found out that I am not a fan of sweet potatoes. I read a food blog called How Sweet It Is and she made some sweet potato cream pasta stuff. I originally thought 'hmmm, maybe this might not be so bad?' Well the other night for supper I 'acidentally' bought Sweet Potato fries. I tried them and thought they were OK. My husband said he didn't mind them, but Lukas told me that he didn't want orange french fries. He said "I like yellow fries right Mom?" I said "you didn't even try your orange french fries, just give them a try...they make your eyes see better." He told me "no, I don't want to...orange fries make me sad." Well he wasn't a fan of them and neither was I...so I won't be making them for awhile.
Third is risotto. It's like a rice thingy stuff. Maybe I didn't make it right, but when I made it the rice had no flavor and I think Lukas thought it wasn't very good either. I may revisit risotto, because I may have made it wrong. Lukas and I both love rice, so I would think this is something we would've liked. Perhaps a different recipe will help?
That being said...I have some loves right now too!
Things I love right now are:
First it's Panini sandwiches! You can put whatever you want between to slices of french bread...toast the thing and whatever is inside the sandwich gets all melty and yummy! I am sooooo happy I bought a panini maker for myself at black Friday last year! Lukas loves these sandwiches too! Not to mention you can open up the sucker and make steaks, chicken, kabobs...anything your heart desires to grill!
Second is Laughing Cow Cheese. You can add these wedges into any kind of sauce and it adds some extra creamy flavor for only 35 calories! They are also fun to eat with cracker for a snack! They have a bunch of different flavors too.
Third and last thing are Sangrias. I am in love with Sangrias! Chop up a orange and apple...then pour your Sangria wine or a dry and sweet wine over them depending on the ratio you love and voila a perfectly thirst quenching, happy time, smiles, and all around perfect drink that makes the world a much happier place!
Oh and the pic above it Megan learning how to use her spoon. That's when things get messy!

Pictures of Cars
Last Saturday night we decided to take a look at what Lukas has been taking pictures and videos of on his camera he got for Christmas. After the kids were in bed we put the SD card in the Wii and we browsed through. We saw many peach blurry pictures which I am assuming are his hands or face. We also saw many blurry pictures of stuff around our house, Megan, us, and the dogs. However, he always took good pictures of his cars. Most all of the pictures were still and he got them.
We noticed that he always puts them in order King (blue one), Chicka (Green one), and then McQueen (red one). The extra one above is just another race car from Cars. Another thing we noticed is that he's very specific about taking the pictures of his cars.
I should have copied his "movie" he made of his cars and posted it. It's a cute little movie of him grunting to hold the camera, while moving his cars. Complete with car crashes, zooming, and lining up in the proper order. Most everything Lukas does makes me smile! He is such a little cars man!
